  • Have a look to My shaolin kung fu schedule

    Dear brothers and sisters,
    Good day to you
I want you to have a look to my shaolin kung fu schedule and need your comments.

    • I start with Lifting The Sky 15 times.
    • Standing meditation about 5 minutes
    • I do the stances training about 15 minutes.
    • Stretching training .
    • The 16 Combat sequences.
    • And the combat sets (combine each 4 sequences in one set).
    • And I end my training with Lifting The Sky and standing meditation.

I spend 2 hours every day following this schedule for 2 years .

please feel free If you have any comment or correction to improve my training.

Thank you and wish you all the best

    Best regards,
    Hussain

    Hi Hussain,

I think your training is very good, if you feel relaxed and full of vitality during the day it means it´s ok.
In fact, two hours everyday is more than enough.

          Hi Hussain,

Do you practice One Finger Shooting Zen in addition to stance training?

I'd probably do that at the end of the practice session, instead doing LTS a second time, and follow it with chi flow and standing meditation.

I'd be interested to know what my seniors think.

              Hi Hussain,

maybe you could add some variety. For example on alternate days you may practise the sets or the art of 100 kicks.

Later on maybe you can practise one finger shooting zen at the end of stance training, when you are in the horse stance, instead of practising stance training and then at the end of the sessión one finger zen.

Thank you Sifu Daniel, I liked your post
I think variety will be better, I'm thinking to Focus on the first 5 points in my schedule with chi flow after stance training and put some variety every month on the last 2 points.
Like the sets or the art of 100 kicks and one finger zen at the end of the sessión
also, instead of practising stance training I can practise one finger shooting zen and change to the golden bridge every three month.

                what do you think?

                Regards

                  Hello Hussain,

There´s no need to change every 3 months. Your focusing on the first 5 points is a good idea, then on point 6 you practise different things but not on the same day, for example: art of 100 kicks, sets, footwork, etc...

In point three, you can practise stance training and end with some rounds of one finger zen all in a row.

And finally, you can go into chi flow whenever you like not only after stance training. Specially end with chi flow before proceeding to the final standing meditation.

                      Aims & Aobjectives

                      Dear Hussain,

Your schedule seems very balanced and that you seem very diligent in your practice. Congratulations . For these reasons I suspect you have gained much from your practice.

I think an important factor to consider when wanting to improve upon your own traininh schedule is what do you aim to achieve from the Shaolin Arts in a years time, in three - five years time, in 10 years time etc. From these aims and objectives it then becomes easier to taylor your schedule to meet your aims and objectives and saves alot of time.

I hope this may be of some help.

                      Best wishes and happy practicing.

                      Martin

                        Greetings,

I am more or less a beginner myself (~2 years), but I thought I could give my understanding of what I've learned from Sifu Kai here in Frankfurt. It seems like a good opportunity for me to learn as well, because I'll find out if I'm wrong

As far as stance training goes, if it is not improving in some way, ones chi level is probably not increasing from it. For example, if someone is doing 50 breaths or 5, 10 or 15 minutes of golden bridge everyday and the time spent standing is not increasing, the chi is probably not increasing either. Of course it is natural that we go through longer periods with no noticeable improvements.

On the other hand, if someone does the same length of time everyday, let's say 10 minutes, but the level of meditation is getting better, then you are also improving. For example, the space between thoughts grows longer and longer. In this case you are not increasing time but the profundity of your training. This is also important.

Sifu Kai has mentioned that he believes 20 minutes should be the minimum goal for standing in golden bridge, and I remember reading in a book by Sigung that 15 minutes generates enough force that a black belt would find formidable. Therefore if you are doing 15 minutes of GB, you've already reached a very admirable level!

But an important point to add is that golden bridge and stance training are not the only ways to increase chi. Take cosmos palm for example.

I hope some others can add to, or correct some of my points!

                        With Shaolin salute,
                        Jim
Sigung: This is a great exercise for women, because it makes them beautiful and radiant.
Student: And what does it do for men?
                        Sigung: It makes women beautiful!
                        Smile from the heart!

This is not correct . Consistent correct practice is the key. You need not always "improve" your training to get more benefits.
