"Shaolin and the Art of Negotiation": a life-changing experience
Dear Shaolin Family and guests,
Last week end a team of lucky participants attended the "Shaolin And The Art of Negotiation" workshop taught by Sifu Piti. It felt life-changing during the workshop, and now about a week later I can feel the effects of the course on many aspects of life. I am applying the powerful tools we learnt on a daily basis! During the first day, we got to "role play" a situation of negotiation. I can tell you that the "warrior" side of the scholar-warrior got to speak loudly! Everyone single one of us got so invested in the game that we were all still talking about it a week later. ("so, I'm telling you, you should have gone with us, our water purifier really was the best" ).We got to first experience it with no tools, as most of us would do it in such a situation and in daily life, and at the end of the day we redid the same scenario, but this time with the tools we had learnt during the day. What a transformation! From a "war-like" and tensed interaction, it turned into a fun, mutally beneficial, and highly satisfying experience. After that one day, no longer do I see a negotiation like a situation where I have to fight and win something. I have directly experienced how it can be a mutual exchange of value, and am actually looking forward to be in such a situation. Sifu Piti brought the Shaolin morale and ethic into the Art of Negocation, with of course our most "secret" tool: smiling from the heart. If that was not enough, the second day opened the door to a whole new and truly unique dimension: how can you become intelligent in how you use Chi in a negotiation - or more generally, in any interaction? How can you diffuse any situation with your energy, gently guide your negotiation partner with your voice, or guarantee that you will achieve your objectives while benefiting all involved parties? Well, I will not spoil it for you ![]() Several of the participants were already well acquainted with negotiation techniques, having attended several seminars, but they all said the same thing: "wow, that's a whole different ball game..." They had never attended anything remotely as complete and profound than this workshop. What we learnt this weekend is not just how to win a negotiation. We learnt how to benefit everyone in our life, while not compromising ourselves and achieving our goals. We learnt how to "win" by opening our hearts, and opening to all the different hidden languages of our world. In other words, we learnt how to manifest a happier reality for us and everyone. My deepest thanks to Piti Sihing for coming all the way to Toronto and sharing his hard earned knowledge, and to Emiko Sije for organizing and hosting a flawless event. Warmest, Hubert. (ps: Marisa, who also attended the workshop, posted her experience in another thread, which you can read here).

Dear Sifu Hubert,
Thank you for posting about the course "Shaolin and the Art of Negotiation" taught by Sifu Piti in Toronto. I really wanted to attend the course, and reading your wonderful reviews of the course made me wish I had been there even more! I hope that someday Sifu Piti could kindly come to Japan to teach this course here as well. I'm sure he is very busy teaching his many students, but if he could find time to teach here I think he would be well-welcomed by the Shaolin Wahnam members here. Thank you again, Sifu Hubert, for sharing. Erica |

Hello everyone
I would like to add my my observations about the course and my thanks to Sifu Piti for coming to Toronto to teach the workshop and sifu Emiko for organizaing it. Sifu Pit shared with us a rare and indepth look at how our shaolin principles and values can be used to build strong productive relationships at work and in our perosnal lives. He also taught us how it is possible to negotiate in any kind of conflictual relationship to create a win-win solution or to know when and how to safely disengage when resolution was not possible. Fear of conflict is a common discomfort with many people today and Piti also helped us undestand that conflict is an essential element of growth and improved performance. That when managed properly disagreement can lead to creative solutions and options that one person/the group might otherwise not become aware of. The wealth of knowledge and experience that sifu Piti shared truly help me to appreciate how well the shaolin values and principles promotes excellance in all aspects of our lives. It also helped me understand how to seamlessly integrate both the internal (mind-energy) aspect and the external techniques in both my kung fu and when dealing with people on an interpersonal level. Sifu Piti also did a wonderful job of helping us experience how we can use our energy to negotiate in all our relationships in a way that appears effortless and magically to others or as sifu woud say "marvelous". Warmest Regards Gord |

Hello everyone!
First, I would like to thank Sifu Piti and Sije Emiko for bringing this wonderful (and absolutely life changing!) workshop to Toronto. I had the fortunate opportunity to be able to attend this with my husband, who to this day is still very excited and anxious to use his new skills everyday in his work environment and in our personal lives. Sifu Piti was able to share his excitement about how to look at every personal or business opportunity with new and compassionate eyes allowing everyone to gain benefits from any situation. So often, we think that we have to sacrifice in order to get what we want but we don't! Sifu Piti reminded us how we ourselves deserve the best and how we can attract that to us by simply "Smiling From the Heart". His message that the idea of conflict was not a bad thing but something that could actually take us to something very exciting, was the most eye opening for me. Sifu Piti taught us how to speak with different energies, how to use our bodies and physically situate them to our advantage and how to close ourselves off to unwanted energy was just some of the very exciting concepts we learned that weekend. If you are every able to attend this wonderful workshop, I highly recommend it! Sifu Piti is an energetic and enthusiastic speaker who clearly has a passion for what he does. Not too mention a wicked sense of humour I wish I could explain the wealth of knowledge and enlightening discoveries we took away from that weekend and how indispensible it was to our everyday lives. Many thanks to Sifu Piti and Sije Emiko again for this amazing event.Soon to be "Master Negotiator"... Jinne P.S. I feel like I haven't conveyed enough about what I got out of Shaolin and the Art of Negotiation so I might have to write some more later

What a wonderful course I took
On a cold snowy day, I went to the Toronto Japanese Canadian Culture Center to attend the 'Art of Negotiations' course.
When I went to the class, Sifu Piti welcomed me with a smile. This course is one of courses from the Shaolin Scholar project. The reason that I took this course is because I believe that "Negotiations" is one of the keys to enjoying smooth human relationships. Sifu Piti has the art of conversation with the power of expression. Because of my English level, sometimes I had difficulty understanding everything. But Sifi Piti told me, "If you have some words that you can't understand, please ask me anytime". On the first day, Sifu Piti explained about "Negotiations". He separated us into 3 groups and each group tried to negotiate with another group, like in a real situation. I started to feel that negotiation is real. Sifu Piti also explained the theory by using "Taijiquan" movements. On the second day, Sifu Piti explained the theory of external and internal "Negotiations". Sifu Piti's course was like watching a drama in a theatre. I experienced thrills, tension, excitement, humour and discoveries in his course. After the two-day course, I became more close to all the attendees. I thank Sifu Emiko for giving us such a significant course. I also thank Sifu Emiko Hsuen who organized this wonderful Shaolin Scholar Project. I wish everybody all around the world will take Sifu Piti's course. And I believe it will change their lives. Don't lose the chance, lets open the door and fly to the new world. Suelen Chang |

Scholar Project
Greetings everyone!
It makes me smile to read everyone's posts about their life-changing experiences during the Scholar Project courses. The Scholar Project course held in Japan last December made some huge changes in my life, too. Since the course, I've learned to see so much good in myself, be more gentle with myself, and easily let go of thoughts that don't do me any good. ![]() I am so grateful that Sigung decided to start the Scholar Project...We are very blessed to have a grandmaster who cares not only about our training, but how our training can improve our everyday lives. To Sifu Piti, Thank you for your warm response to my comments. I have heard my Sifu mention how nice it would be to have you come to Japan in 2010 or 2011. If that becomes possible, it would be a great pleasure to meet you at that time. Warm regards and Shaolin salute, Erica |

Shaolin and the Art of Negotiation
Hi everyone, Piti Siheng is very skillful in drawing the best from participants in a safe environment, where you can learn, experience, explore emotions, share and ask questions. The atmosphere is light hearted and the personal growth is deeply profound. Piti Siheng has a wealth of knowledge and experience and is an excellent facilitator.I recently had the great privilege and rare opportunity to attend "Shaolin and the Art of Negotiation" in Toronto taught by Piti Siheng. This workshop was life changing, relevant, practical and profound. I feel empowered, energized and motivated to engage in the world and pursue my personal and professional aspirations. The benefits have been numerous. The tools and techniques learned have brought my communication and conflict resolution skills to a new level. The experience has also deepened my understanding of energy and dynamics between friends, family and colleagues. The lessons learned have been transferable to all aspects of my life. This I find very exciting. This is the first Scholar Warrior Project workshop that I've attended and now I know from experience what a rare and special opportunity these workshops are. It's a way of thinking and being in the world unlike anything I've ever experienced. My sincere thanks and gratitude go to Piti Siheng for coming to Toronto and teaching "Shaolin and the Art of Negotiation". A special thank you to Emiko Sije for organizing this event and for her tireless efforts and commitment to the Scholar Warrior Project. Kindest regards, Francesca |
