This thread is not to be considered as a continuation of the previous, sometimes heated, exchange and discussion between Wu Jing and Shaolin Wahnam. We would like to start a new discussion to learn more about each other. And this, hopefully, will be the peaceful place to do so.
I just finished watching three episodes of "The Simpsons" with my wife and children. I shared a bottle of dark, Chinese beer with my wife. We all shared chocolate ice cream.
I teach high school English.
I got my first cell phone last week but I don't really need it.
Yeah i'm looking forward from learning from you too. I usually fall asleep in the living room where my computer is i have one window up where i do business and the other window where i post here. I am 45yrs i am married but no kids but were trying.
I run three business' and practice nei kung when i can.
You teach English? no wonder i got grammar checks from you. It all makes sense now.
I love to train at night and i used to write poetry.
I was training last night listening to this song on youtube. It had me going.
I train with music when i practice kung fu but not when i practice nei kung i got to turn everything off for that.
Music helps me to take my training to another level.
I remember years ago when i was trying to get the butterfly twist and aerial twist the music that i had blasting thru the house helped give me motivation to get back up and try again after the hundreds and hunderds of times i biffed.
Music i felt kept my spirit at a certain level it helped me not to get discouraged whenever i hit road blocks in my training.
I know of martial artist that would at times avoid training because they got so negative about some of the things they couldn't land or do. Or when they do train they do not have the firery spirit of the dragon to give them that extra little something to help them put more spirit into their moves.

A very interesting contrast with our Kung Fu. Our Kung Fu is internal whilst external, hard and simultaneously soft. In our training, every move is a training of body (or essence), energy and mind. Our training, therefore, is also a form of meditation. I personally could not imagine training our Kung Fu style with (external) music.
I practice the wushu forms with music and it does not distract me at all. I even have training cds that i mixed.
Now thunder mind nei kung is a different story it is a style of nothing but meditative exercises.
In the main practice not including the forms, push hands exercises, and golden bell training(which are all meditative exercises) we have 20 different meditative exercises that we practice.
Andrew what does your school consider internal training?

Yes If the right Shen ( mind) aspect is contained every "external action" becomes internal too. E.g. Footwork Training, Patterns/Sets or even walking from the living room to the toilet or driving home from work or working itsself.
Qi, Jing and Shen schould at best be contained in everything, as I once said in the german section; our training starts in the morning when the alarm clock rings and it ends in the morning when the alarm clock rings
