2008 Intensive Taijiquan Course Malaysia is on!

"Secrets of the Internal Force Masters" - 2008 Intensive Taijiquan Course

Dear Shaolin Family and Friends,

I am thrilled to announce that Sifu has generously agreed to make time out of his busy schedule to teach a full Intensive Taijiquan Course this year.

A Special and Rare Opportunity

I would like to highlight how special and rare this opportunity is. It is rare because only a handful of masters today practice genuine Taijiquan, and Sifu such a master. It is special because the last time Sifu taught an Intensive Taijiquan course was in 2006, and his other courses are in such demand that we do not know when he will have the time to teach another Intensive Taijiquan course.

The State of Affairs Today

Genuine Taijiquan is near extinction. How is this possible?
Simply by the fact that most forms of Taijiquan today do not fulfill the following basic critieria.

A genuine Taijiquan practitioner should be able:
a) to be combat efficient through skillful use of stances and purely taijiquan moves (not by boxing moves or hopping about)
b) to experience and acquire internal force
c) to experience chi flow during practice
d) to interact skillfully with people in social settings
e) to have ready access to mental clarity, even under extreme pressure
f) to experience spiritual peace/ joy/ expansion

What Your Participation Means

At the 2008 Intensive Taijiquan Course, all participants will progress and gain competency in the above areas. Each of us, simply by our participation, will be facilitating the preservation of genuine taijiquan.

Already, taijiquan practitioners from 6 different countries have applied for acceptance to this wonderful course. It goes without saying that the greater the number of training partners, the greater the chance of increasing one's ability to adjust timing and spacing while sparring - and in daily life, of course!

So, if you're looking to improve your skills of flow, internal force, pushing hands, striking hands, sparring and all the other past secrets of the Internal Force Masters, this is the course to take.

The Dates

The dates for this year's Intensive Taijiquan Course are September 5 to 11.

How to Apply for Acceptance to this Course

If you wish to apply for this course, please send me the following particulars:

1) Full name:
2) Country you are applying from:
3) Email address & phone number:
4) Info on any taichichuan/martial arts background you have:

Contact Info

My email address is: shaolin@shaolinwahnamcanada.com.

I am seriously thinking of attending this (again!), but I have no visibility beyond a few weeks when it comes to my schedule.

This is an opportunity that cannot be missed - I had quite despaired of Sifu ever offering this course again. I am so glad that Sifu has brought this back. Thanks, Emiko, for fronting this.

Dear Shaolin family and friends,

For those of you who haven't yet read Sifu Joan's heartwarming account in the Taijiquan thread, here is a quote taken from her account:

Quote:

As genuine Tai Chi Chuan needs to be preserved, I would really urge anybody who wishes to learn from one of the best Grandmasters in the world to pull out all the stops to get to Malaysia this year.
So, I'd like to take this opportunity to re-iterate how important this upcoming course is.

Please allow me put this into "personal" context:

I am a happy and proud Shaolin Kungfu practitioner who is willing to invest her time and energy to pump a Taijiquan course. Isn't this a bit of a contradiction? Why would a Shaolin Kungfu practitioner support a Taijiquan course?

My simple answer is this:

Sifu is the only master I know of who is capable of "enlightening" practitioners to the heart and essence of Taijiquan.

I know, that's a strong statement, but I stand by it.

While my reasons have already been delineated in the earlier part of this thread, I thought it would be nice to go that "extra step" and create another website to promote this special course. (Heartfelt thanks go to Sifu Hubert Razack for his timely assistance in the design of this site.)

It can be found here: http://joyandfreedom.com/taijiquan2008/.

If you know of anyone who has missed this course thread whom you think might wish to avail him/herself of this opportunity, I'd appreciate it if you would pass on the above link to him/her.

For those of you who have already studied with Sifu, as we all know, Sifu's teaching skills are improving not in a linear fashion, but in a "compound" way. Even if we know the external applications, let us always keep in mind that Wahnam Taijiquan is not just about techniques and patterns, but also about skills, internal force, flow, the "marvellous" level, and spiritual cultivation. What a joy it would be for me to have the chance to train alongside you under the excellent guidance of our Sifu/Sigung.

We are well over 20 confirmed participants at the moment, and rapidly approaching 30!

Wishing you all continued success in your training,

Emiko
