I am only after arriving back from a 16 day tour of Malaysia. The whole experience was amazing. I went with the Irish tour that Joan Sije organised. Our first few days were spent in Langkawi Island. This was really a beautiful place, sparkling blue waters, clean and peaceful beaches and spectacular scenery. All were so friendly and helpful.
After leaving Langkawi, we arrived in Sungai Petani to attend the Intensive Chi Kung course with Sifu. I have attended some regional courses with Sifu over the past year and a half, but nothing can compare to this. I was thinking beforehand that it cant be much different to the regions courses. How wrong I was though. We spent three days doing Lifting the Sky, Pushing Mountains and Carrying the Moon at some unbelievable levels that I never thought were possible. If you have never done this course or were thinking about attending at some stage, I would fully recommend that you do it soon. Words cant describe what you will learn here in such a short period of time, it was like getting a gift from God.
I also attended the review Shaolin Kung Fu and Chi Kung course. The kung fu course helped a lot, especially in the areas of correct stance training postures. The combat sequences were reviewed quickly but I found that some fine points became more clear. It is true what Sifu and people on the forum say that you build on skills from techniques you already know. The Chi Kung review was similar. The highlight of the chi kung was dan tian breathing. I had never done that before and to be in a room with 80 other people all doing this so peacful exercise was amazing. The whole chi kung courses have really helped my Shaolin kung fu training, making me more relaxed and focused, which to me is one of the most important skills to develop in martial art training.
It was wonderful to meet so many different people from the Shaolin Wahnam family. Everyone was different in personality and attitude and everyone added something new to training in the Shaolin arts. I dont mean that they were changing the arts but they all added variety in a good way. Something similar that I noticed in everyone was all were extremely friendly, happy and more than helpful in every way. We all then attended the wedding of Wei Foong and Peter. It was great and very different from previous weddings that I have been to at home. There was some very interesting performances put on by the differeent countries and the food was wonderful.
Finally I would like to thank Sifu so much for giving us such amazing arts for life and for teaching us so kindly. I would like to thank Joan Sije for organising such a beautiful trip for us. A trip like this can really change peoples lives and change peoples view on the world. Thanks to Wei Foong for answering all the questions and the wonderful wedding. Thanks to Chun Nga for inviting us to his house for the party, that was a funny night. And thanks to all the Shaolin Wahnam family, it was great meeting with you all and look forward to seeing you in the near future.
