  • Intensive Course V Summer Camp.

    Dear friends,

I am new to this website but am intrigued with the Q&A section especially on Chi Kung.

I assume that this question has been answered many times but could someone please tell me what the difference is between the Intensive Chi Kung course taught by Sifu in Malaysia and the 1 day Generating Energy Flow course taught by Sifu at the summer camp.

I have been reading the various Q&A's - the contents seem to be the same on each course.

Is there a higher level of teaching on the Intensive course?

Does Sifu open up certain pressure points? Can he if asked open them up on the one day course at the summer camp - I hope this is not to inapporiate to ask.

Is there a limited number of people on the Intensive Course so things like posture/form are corrected on a more personal level.

At the summer camp will there be an oppurtunity to discuss certain questions that keep coming to mind individually?

What is more powerful Zhan Zhuang static postures or Chi Kung?

If taught by a master can they be practised together - one after the other?

I have tried "Lifting the Sky" from the book but am not sure whether I am moving the body or it is being moved. If I relax in the posture after say 20 - 30 repetitions, if I don't move is the chi still flowing.

What are the added benefits of the Intensive Course against one day Chi Kung course?

If practised regularly does the chi kung forms create more energy in the body. How does one know if progress is being made if learning just from the instructions in the book.

Can learning from the book induce high level chi kung if practised regularly.

I am sorry if there are too many questions, and thank all for reading and answering this in advance.

Have a great Easter to all.

    Best reagrds

Lots and lots of questions. Most (if not all) are answered elsewhere... but nevertheless..

what the difference is between the Intensive Chi Kung course taught by Sifu in Malaysia and the 1 day Generating Energy Flow course
    Form -- same.
    The depth is different.
There are additional skills taught at the intensive.

It should be quite clear that what Sifu teaches in 3 days is not the same (at the non-physical level at least) as what he teaches in 1 day.

Does Sifu open up certain pressure points? Can he if asked open them up on the one day course at the summer camp - I hope this is not to inapporiate to ask.
Sifu can open eneryg points but does not normally do so if it is not needed. It is less common for him to do so on normal courses. If you ask, he will likely refuse. This is not because of him being selfish but he will only do so if he sees the need. Remember, this costs him energy reserves too.

Is there a limited number of people on the Intensive Course so things like posture/form are corrected on a more personal level.
There is normally a limited number on most courses. Again, consider Sifu with the same group for 3 days or 1 day --- for the "same" exercises.

At the summer camp will there be an oppurtunity to discuss certain questions that keep coming to mind individually?
Unless the questions are of extremely personal nature, they can (and should) be asked during the normal sections of the course. If there is something very personal you would need to talk to the organiser first.

What is more powerful Zhan Zhuang static postures or Chi Kung?
I assume you mean dynamic Chi Kung patterns here? Depends on what you want to achieve, what you define as powerful and what level you practice at. Zhan Zhuang, generally speaking, is more used for building and dynamic Chi Kung more for circulating. There has been much discussion around these topics here.

If taught by a master can they be practised together - one after the other?
Yes. Basically practice as you have been taught.

If I relax in the posture after say 20 - 30 repetitions, if I don't move is the chi still flowing.
Your chi is always flowing --- otherwise you are not alive. Don't worry about feeling physical movement -- this is only one manifestation of enhanced chi flow.

What are the added benefits of the Intensive Course against one day Chi Kung course?
Depth and level of skill. You will be amazed at learning from Shaolin Wahnam instructor. You will be even more amazed at learning from Sifu during a regional course. You will be even more amazed again at an intensive course.

If practised regularly does the chi kung forms create more energy in the body.
No. Chi Kung forms alone is just physical exercise. You have to at least perform a minimum low level of Chi Kung before any reasonable energy benefits are achieved. This can be done following instructions from Sifu's books. But the level an depth is no comparison to learning in person. You have to feel the difference to truly appreciate it.

How does one know if progress is being made if learning just from the instructions in the book.
How does one know if progress is being made at all?

Can learning from the book induce high level chi kung if practised regularly.
In theory yes. In practice, though, it is extremely unlikely. If you are very lucky, you may make the step to a high level Chi Kung in some years from the book. If you attend a course with Sifu (or with a Shaolin Wahnam instructor) the step is immediate.
