    Thank you Brother Jeffrey

    Dear Sifu Jeffrey,

Receive my heartfelt gratitude for your amazing contribution with this thred. Your brain is defenetevely one of the most brillant I had the chance to meet. But a brillant brain only it is not of a real value. The great value is to combine it with a shining heart like yours my brother, this is a rare combination indeed. Thank you very much to share your knowledge with such generosity, patience and simplicity.

    Your Brother,
    Rama

I completely agree with you. I have taken several Tai Chi Chuan courses, and in each one I was amazed to find out important leassons for my own training.

Actually the way Sifu looks at Tai Chi Chuan makes me thinking of the impression, that Sifu is viewing Tai Chi Chuan as a Specialisation within the Shaolin Arts. I may be wrong of course....

                Dear Wahnam Sisters and Brothers:

As you may know, in February March 2009, with the blessing presence of Sifu Wong and Sifu Kai, the Blue Mountain Retreat in Costa Rica is celebrating five years of existence.

An extraordinary program has been scheduled to literally boost our practice in the wonderful Wahnam Arts. Sifu told me that people who did not attended his past Intensive Taijiquan course in Penang will have an amazing opportunity to be exposed to high level skills during these special Blue Mountain´s celebration courses. And for the ones like me who have attended Sifu´s past Intensive Taijiquan courses, there will be the chance to deepen the understanding and practice of the fine points of the art Sifu has generously transmitted to us.

Sifu Kai will then offer a Special Warrior Project seminar, in the presence of Sifu Wong as observer. Among the many interesting features of this seminar, Wahnam Taijiquan and Shaolin kung fu exponents will have the opportunity to share a taste of each one Art.

Finally, this Blue Mountain event will also be the occasion to gather beautiful and highly skilled people not only in the Wahnam Arts but also in the Art of Living, surrounded by the magic environment of this garden of timelessness : this will generate a mayor, unforgettable experience and great benefits.

My heart to heart invitation is…don’t miss it!

Dear Sifu Wong and Sifu Kai: please accept once more our immense gratitude.

                With heartfelt regards,
                Rama

Greetings from Melbourne where my exam season has just ended!

How is everyone's training going? It's hard to believe that more than two months have passed since we were all together in Penang.

Lately, I've been working on continuation, i.e. linking sequences together and adjusing my footwork accordingly. I think it's an important step along the path towards being able to use our sequences for sparring.

The first thing I did was to call the initiator modes "a" and the responder modes "b". Thus, we have 1a, 1b, 2a, 2b, 3a, 3b all the way up to 12a and 12b.

To train continuation, I start with a sequence, let's say 1a. Then from wherever that sequence ends (in this case with a right punch), I continue into another sequence. If needed, I adjust my footwork. For example, if after 1a I continued with 2a, I wouldn't need to adjust my footwork, I'd just stay in Right mode and start sequence 2a. If on the other hand, I wanted to continue with 4a, I'd either step forward into Left mode or bring the right leg back and then the left leg forward to get into Left mode. There's a lot of scope for working on footwork as well as spacing.

The way I've been training is to start with easy continuations and then make them progressively trickier. First I do short continuations, just a few sequences long and only using the early sequences. Gradually, I then expand until I'm using all 12 sequences in any order. I'm finding that it's a great way to free up my brain and make the sequences automatic. I'm also finding that it's a very useful method for teaching.

Try it and let me know what you think

                    Best,
                    Jeffrey Segal
