(see Highlights and features half-way down page - "Investigation as jockey headbuts horse").
The horse obviously wasn't an Italian stallion, as it remained conscious throughout the attack. Lip reading experts report that the horse said, "Give your mother a carrot, and she'll do anything."
Dear Mohammed,
I understand your point. But I hope you understand my point as well.
Well, this thread having become alive by the Zidane/Materazzi case and was a good opportunity to learn in many ways To learn that in the future we may react more appropriate in such situations.
To learn to keep our balance and to not let us lead by emotions. To keep our energy at the Dantian and not to let it raise up.
With the benefit of our Shaolin training, we would be able to deal with these situations much better than both Zidane and Materazzi, however, I do feel that Fifa need to not only stamp out racism and diving etc, but also this kind of horrible sledging
I do sincerly hope that we all react more appropriate. In both cases.
I know all this fights in Sportworld from my experience. Please believe me, worse things happen nowadays. When people start to wish people bad for their performance out of bad emotions, when people use drugs, when people start to speak trash talk like. Where money is people do a lot of bad things.
We at Shaolin Wahnam, we can be extremely proud that we have tools which make it possible that we can clear our blockages, that we can stay calm and peaceful even in most demanding situations.
I remeber Sifu giving me an exellent advice for one of my athletes, which I teach:
We do not talk bad or wish bad, we also wish our opponets good.
We concentrate on oursleves, try to do our best, which is quite simple with our Arts.
At the end the best performance may win. If it's an opponent we are happy for him, as he was better than us this time......
Respectfully,
Roland

I do not worry that much, you just gave away your element of surprise!
Monkeys are really very tricky... Never thought of a professional career in football?
Since I love fair combat, I will give away my own element of surprise to counter your tricky and shamefull Monkey headbutt ( ) ... prepare yourself for my elegant and graceful Reincarnated Fulfilled Crane!
Blessings,

Uppercut/upward movement to the nose or jaw But if done in close, try to move and use shoulder kao strike. Although it might hurt your shoulder as much as it hurts his head.
A knee to the face might work well if you get your hands behind his back. If he is on top of you, and has the advantage with head next to yours, not much you can do except diminish the impact and try to find an opening in his mount. Gouge his eye out, etc. But careful it might piss him off and make it worse if you fail.
A totally unexpected headbutt..who knows, hope for the best and that your nose is not broken
Anyone watching the world cup this time round? I'm finding it funny that FIFA have managed to ruin their own spectacle and therefore their own money spinning efforts over the years, by trying to ban or restrict hard tackling, which has now backfired on them in my view because:
1. Real fans like hard tackling. Its part of the game, and for some people, the best part.
2. In the old days it was possible to attack, knowing that if the opposition get the ball back and counter attack, you can always hit them with a hard tackle. Now Fifa have restricted that in an effort to let the 'skillful' players (real skillful players can cope with the tackling) flourish, but the result is that teams now can't tackle therefore they must defend deeper in greater numbers, making for even less goals and making it even more difficult for the skillful players to flourish, and making Fifa's main money spinning showcase less attractive.
This isn't just miscellaneous - it made me think about how I have thought about certain problems I have in combat, defending a particular move say. I might have difficulty applying a standard counter. I think about it and come up with the idea of using a different counter then try that next time - it might work on the first move but leave me wide open for a further move that I hadn't thought of, that might be worse than the previous one! So the lesson is that while its good to think of counters, its also good to think of what might happen after that and so on, and its good to trust the counters that work for other fighters, or better yet that are passed down by masters who have already tried and thought through all this.
More football related thoughts on combat. (For those wondering what football (aka 'soccer' ) has to do with combat, try playing sunday league in Northern Ireland!)
I believe that many martial artists lull themselves into a false sense of security because they never think of the difference of applying their moves in combat as opposed to when doing forms, in class etc.
This links to football, because in every tournament we see penalty shootouts and we will in this one too. Great, world class, skillful, powerful players who could put 10 out of 10 penalties past any goalkeeper in training, will miss them in the penalty shootout. Because though they have the skills to score a penalty in training, to do it under pressure in a world cup shoutout is so much harder.
I always thought of this when I did various martial arts in the past and in the class they would practice knife defences with a wooden knife, slow speed, predictable movement, friendly partner etc - I always thought that the pressure added by someone coming with a knife for real would be far greater than that of 50000 screaming football fans and that most of these things would be much much harder to apply reliably in reality.
So is it worth practising things like knife defence then? Well in relation to football I have heard managers of countries who are not so good at shootouts, say that they don't really practise penalties because its impossible to practice them as you can't recreate the atmoshpere in the stadium, the pressure etc. Then they asked the Germans (who always win penalty shootouts!) if that was true and they said "We practice them every day!"
