      Shamsher,

Tat Tvam Asi is a sacred sanskrit phrase.

I won't presume as to what Dr Kissey means by it, but the following quote from Sai Baba sums up my understanding of it.

It is a pilgrimage that ends when the emerged is merged in that from which it has emerged, when Thou realize that it is That, when Tvam knows that it is Thath. The stow of billions of births and deaths is summarized in the three words Thath Tvam Asi.
      Sincerely,

Thanks Vanessa, although I haven't started learning Sanskrit yet I mistook Dr. Damians words for Punjabi or Hindi. Apne = ours, Chalo = go and Bhai = brother. I was totally wrong

          opinion on God

          Dear Shams ,

am no language expert but have borrowed those sayings from English books i have about Indian spiritual philosophy .

As Vanessa said , “Tat Tvam Asi” is a sacred saying in Sanskrit from the Upanishad of Hinduism , translated as “Thou Art That” or “You are That”.The real permanent immortal You is spirit ( not you , the transient mortal physical body ) which is qualitatively the same as the Ultimate Reality or God.Perhaps it’s similar to saying “Thou art Tao” or “You are Buddha-nature” or “You are God’s image”.The Sages say this from experience. The highest of the Shaolin Arts is Zen when you have a glimpse of cosmic reality during Shaolin Cosmos Chi Kung , you utter “ Shams is Zen!” , but not too loud risking being burned at the stakes.

“Dham apne chalo bhai…..” in Hindi is taken from the Spiritual poetry of the not so well known Great Nothern Indian Master , Seth Shiv Dayal , translated as “O Brother Turn Thou Homeward now “ which continues as “…..why dwellest thou in a foreign land?”.
Since you know Hindi “ Kam karodh par har par ninda “ by Guru Nanak or”To God within awake “.Our spirits’ real Home is the Internal Infinite Void and not the external brick & mortar structures we call home . Actually we are aliens on a foreign land called Earth…..spiritual beings going around in different physical cloaks in the cycle of life and death in the phenomenal world. So , brother ( and sister ) , lets practice the Internal Art to turn our attention internally and go Homeward bound.!Remember to be good earth citizens as per the 10 Shaolin Laws while we are at It.

By the way , Shams , your name reminds of Maulana Rumi’s teacher , the Great Muslim Saint of Persia , Shams-i-Tabriz , who said “ Where fore art thou rolling in this earthly existence ? Go thou into those Orchards & Gardens , where Thou hast been”…..an advice to return to one’s Original Face .Remember the Zen koan , “ where were you before your grandmother was born?”.

Wishing You and Everyone , Zen in the Art of daily living .

            Dear brother(and sister Vanessa),

Thank you for elaborating. I know only enough Hindi to get me by though. Punjabi on the other hand I am fluent in speaking.

However I am quite familiar with Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, it makes me very happy to know his teachings are known in Malaysia. He too is an enlightened soul(like Sri Bodhidharma Ji and Sri Gautama Buddha Ji). Have you ever read the JapJi Sahib? I recommend it (it's one of the most profound spiritual writings I have ever had the privilege of reading, in fact reading Sifu's books has helped me understand my Guru's writings much more fully).

This is a nice thing that my name is also shared with a great Saint. Actually my mother told me Sham means brave and Sher is a well known name for a lion. The thing is all the Punjabi's I meet who are fluent in Punjabi always joke about this

I will endeavour to practice Zen in daily life and return 'home'. With love and respect Shams.

P.S. the funny thing is Shams is what my close family call me at home, I was touched when you called me Shams as this is an endearing name my older brother uses for me.

Only one God created this entire Universe!!!

Hindus say that Brahman is the creator, Muslims say
That Allah is creator, Christians say that the creator is
Jehovah, all say that the creation is this entire world.
If Hindus say that Brahman created India, and if
Muslims say that Allah created Arabian countries and
If Christians say that Jehovah created the western countries,
The problem is solved, there can be three Gods together,
Who have created the three parts of the earth separately.

But this is not so, each religion says that their God only
Created the entire world, unfortunately there is one world!
One world only! Come on, all of you sit together here
And give me the final conclusion after debate, otherwise,
The scientists are laughing on all of you! Shame to all!
              QUOTE]

Well, this is right. But just a thought: It´s always said that God is omnipotent.
But in the same religion the people only allow him to have one name all over the world. This is kind of weird. As for a example: a bottle is called Flasche in german. Both things are meaning the same, but sounds and looks different. Why Jehova and Allah shouldn´t be the same? Maybe coming from different cultures and history these religions refer to different aspects of god, only. But meaning the same entity. If God is omnipotent, how can a human realize all his aspects?

Just a thought I had some years ago.

                Hi Salurian !
Because these gods are only mythological gods, syncretized gods

How a local flood became a universal one

According to Tigay, Atrahasis tablet III iv, lines 6-9 clearly identify the flood as a local river flood: "Like dragonflies they [dead bodies] have filled the river. Like a raft they have moved in to the edge [of the boat]. Like a raft they have moved in to the riverbank." The sentence "Like dragonflies they have filled the river." was changed in Gilgamesh XI line 123 to "Like the spawn of fishes, they fill the sea." [10] Tigah holds that we can see the mythmaker's hand at work here, changing a local river flood into an ocean deluge.

And then it must be a GrandFather and GrandMother and so on, right? well why not, but for us there is only the God that is for us, just simple
