    Filled With Gratitude

    Dear Robin Sisook,

I feel that having the opportunity to be in Sigung’s presence and learning from Sigung is always a great priviledge.

My interest in the Triple Stretch set was sparked a while back from reading the thread “Biography of Sigung Wong Kiew Kit”. In particular, it was the chapters on Sigung Lai that really inspired me.

I have really enjoyed your post above and very much look forward to the material you will be presenting on this thread in future. To have this opportunity to learn the essence of Sitaigung Lai’s teaching through one of his specialized set has left me absolutely speechless. I feel my excitement and gratitude is in real danger of exploding .

Thank you Sigung. Thank you Sisook.

    With my best wishes

    Martin

        Continued….

"Triple Stretch" refers to stretching the hand or arm three times, as in One-Finger Shooting Zen, in force training, usually on a Horse-Riding Stance. Performing the triple stretch and the "four gates" is common in many Hoong Ka sets, apart from those in Wong Fei Hoong's lineage.

The Triple Stretch Set is sometimes called the Big Majestic Set, or Da Hong Quan in Mandarin pronunciation. "Big Majestic" is named after the Big Majestic Precious Hall, which is what the main hall of a temple is called. The Triple Stretch Set was practiced at the main hall of the Southern Shaolin Temple (probably the one on Nine-Lotus Mountain).

        To be continued…….

Below, a couple more pics, I guess you can see that there is defianltey an element of of sitting in Horse stance and building force in this set already.

Also, you can see from the pictures that I have two different video sets of Sifu performing the Triple Stretch, I'm particularly keen on the version in the woods.

Thank you Robin, if the results will be anything like the Iron Wire training or Wing Choon (which there is no doubt) then the force level and achievements of this course will be nothing short of incredible. I am very disappointed not to be able to attend this one, on the other hand I am sure my students are happy I am not.

          Many thanks

            happy you're not making it?

Sifu! What could you possibly mean? Since you returned from Malaysia and the Wing Choon training, I have been greatly appreciating all the opportunities that have arisen for me to experience pain in a whole new range of ways and I've never felt so well acquainted with the ground!

thank you for the info very interesting info! another treasure of Southern Siulam gungfu that Sifu is so gracious to share, how lucky you are.

i know that triple stretch is practied in some lineages of "Black tiger" (hak fu mun). another version is practiced in Taam ga. one of the very famous versions is so called "triple stretch iron thread set". check some of the videos here

I agree with Sifu Tim Franklin. This course will surely be incredible.

Practicing Siu Lin Tou daily is making my arms so powerful, transforming and boosting my One Finger Zen and Tiger Claw. The Triple Stretch will certainly have tremendous effects.

Who will pass up this chance to supercharge their force training?

                    Roland,

We are really looking forward to having the 'Monkey' in our midst in the U.K.!!

                    Fundamental Course information Continued…..

As the Triple Stretch was the set taught at the main hall, many Shaolin masters practiced this set.

Sifu has not taught Triple Stretch recently for the following reason. Because of its force training nature, it has to be taught over a period of time -- like Iron-Wire. But now due to the improvement in Sifu’s teaching methodology, It is possible for Sifu to teach it in a few days. This gives a rare opportunity for students to learn this fantastic art at the Summer Camp. It was not possible before.

                      Pictures

                      Hello guys,

O.k the intriguing information is going to take a step up now as I can present a three part ’picture series’ of some of the main characteristics of the ‘Triple Stretch’ course as presented by Sifu.

This what we have in store for the next few posts...

                      Sifu
A series of "ta chong" or force training while remaining on the Horse-Riding Stance and two series of "ta sei moon" or "striking four gates" which means performing the same combat sequences four times in four directions.
Here is the first set of pictures and a description.

                      Pictures for Ta Chong
These are pictures showing the first of the eight series of developing internal force at the Horse-Riding stance. The two patterns involved are "Single Planting of Flowers" and "Single Dragon Emerges from Sea" performed at the right and the left mode.

This is a big climpse into the philosophy and structure of the 'Triple Stretch' set I hope you enjoy it!!!

                              Wow!!

It's looks like it's going to be a blast - both in terms of how much fun we'll have and how much force we'll build

Are those pictures are from a video of the whole set? Are you going to tease us with snippets for a long time before we see the whole thing?

Is the triple stretch in this set different from the the triple stretch at the beginning of the Crossroad at the 4 Gates and Taming the Tiger?
