    Hi Paul,

Have a think about hand patterns practiced in the Siu Lin Tou, yes they develop internal force but they also develop other types of force and skills. Skills and force that would work well against larger opponents.

Then you have Cham Kiew, this set develops excellent foot skill and shifting of the body to use another understanding of the centre line theory, that is not having to go straight through the person centre line but avoiding it. This is excellent against boxers and other fighters that make use of straight attacks.

Then you have Phew Chee, this has a lot of finishing moves in it (as do the other sets) and helps you develop skills to travel along the line of an attack, attack from the sides and strike decisively.

When we talk about controlling yes taming is an excellent choice to control the fight, but as you say against a stronger opponent this could be more tricky as it is with fast opponents. Once your skills have developed this may not be such a problem but also may not be your first choice of defense or attack.

Choe Family Wing Choon has many facets, I'll post more about it later as I am off to work now, needless to say though that it is a formidable fighting art.

    Best wishes

      Thanks Tim Siheng,

Oh yes I think there are many things in Wing Choon that I can use here. After all its only a very short period of time I've been practising Wing Choon and it wasn't Wing Choon per se that I was using, rather other moves I've been working on previous to Wing Choon. It was the force, relaxation, and enjoyment from Wing Choon that carried through to this sparring!
I plan to analyse the things that worked, the things that didn't work, the things that for some reason I didn't try like stepping to the side, and the things I have recently learned from Wing Choon, all of which I can drill and consciously try to apply next time when I'm better prepared. On this note for example using kicks was something I didn't do last time, but that started to work nicely this time, and I hope I can do that with more moves, starting soon with those from Siu Lim Tao, Cham Kiew and Phew Chee!

      thanks
      Paul

I'll soon be posting a link to the blog for the Choe Family Wing Choon Project with information on the training being taught together with some insights and background into this secretive lineage of Wing Choon.

In the meantime it would be good to get an idea of how many people would be interested in joining the project, the courses will not just be limited to the U.K. but taught in various countries.

Look forward to hearing from you.

        Best wishes

          Dear all,

I have seen an article on Sifu's website listing name of every move of Siu Lin Tau weeks ago but I did not bookmarked the link.

Thanks for the link Joko. I hadn't seen it and had wanted to know the names of the patterns we practice in this Set.
