The "Iron Wire set" at Winter Camp 2010!!

Dear Shaolin family and forum visitors,

Giddy with excitement, I proudly make the following announcement:

Sifu Wong will be teaching the famous Hoong Ka (Hung Gar) Iron Wire set in its entirety at Shaolin Winter Camp 2010!!

This is an amazing opportunity to learn some of the most revered secrets of force training and combat application in Southern Shaolin, such as developing the 12 types of bridge-force, learning to apply them successfully in combat and in daily life, and generating tremendous internal force for fighting as well as mental clarity.

The Wahnam school Shaolin Kungfu leans heavily into Hoong Ka, so this is not a style separate from what we're practicing - this is essential Southern Shaolin!

Thus, Shaolin Wahnam kungfu students should definitely look seriously into attending, since this course most probably will be a one-off event not to be repeated again.

Furthermore, there's a surprise hidden below in the course description I'm sure you'll find very exciting.

Please feel free to PM / email me about the course. I'm very happy to provide my assistance in any area concerning the upcoming Winter Camp event.

Here's the course description / details:

Quote:
The Iron Wire Set of Hoong Ka (Hung Gar) Kungfu

Hoong Ka (Hung Gar) kungfu is a prominent branch of Southern Shaolin Kungfu, which is well known for its tiger claw and no-shadow kick techniques.

"The Iron Wire set" is probably the best known kungfu set in Hoong Ka, however, it is very rarely understood – many perform it as an isometric exercise to develop muscles.

The true benefits of the Iron Wire set – when performed correctly as high-level kungfu and chi kung – are tremendous internal force and mental clarity, as well as developing the famous 12 types of bridge-force that the practitioner can apply effectively both in combat and daily life.

At Shaolin Winter Camp 2010, Grandmaster Wong will teach the Iron Wire set in its entirety, along with its secrets for internal force and combat application. If the course participants work hard and advance reasonably well, Grandmaster Wong has also promised to teach the famous "Taming the Tiger" kungfu set as a free bonus!

This means that at Winter Camp 2010, it is possible for you to learn two out of five of all the kungfu sets reputedly known and used by the legendary Wong Fei Hoong!!

For Shaolin Wahnam students, this is an amazing opportunity to gain a comprehensive, in-depth introduction to Hoong Ka kungfu, covering all the four aspects of form, force, application and philosophy.

Practitioners from outside Shaolin Wahnam may also apply for the Iron Wire course; however, entered application does not guarantee accepted participation. Therefore, for this course non-Shaolin Wahnam students should apply through email only.

Course information
  • Course fee: 1500 euros / 600 euros for Shaolin Wahnam students

  • Course dates: Jan 25th - 29th

  • Teaching is conducted in English

TAMING THE TIGER! Oh my God... I'm torn too! Are there any videos of the Taming the Tiger set?
I'm going to re-read the 10 Shaolin Laws and ask myself what the morality of taking a week off sick is...

Incredible, remarkable and truly amazing.

Time to save some funds for this for sure. A dream of mine for years is to learn and master these.

Thank you Sigung and Sisook for the opportunity and manifestation.

Joyous Salutation.

What a wonderful program, bringing together the "Iron Wire Set" and Taijiquan, the relatively hard and the relatively soft - in one day . I am sure this will be another fantastic round of courses for all those who can join. And a good opportunity to practice our "skillfull choice making" this year .

Helsinki and Finland in general are btw well worth a visit. I'll let you judge by yourself, but the lovely Finish people, the beautiful, calm nature and the huge empty spaces are quite unique in (Western) Europe. I think the most memorable moment during my first visit was when we had a gathering of friends and instead of a lively chatting as would be common down here in Switzerland, we sat there in front of the house, in silence for 15min, drinking tea. Then one person would say something, after a while another person answered, then again silence ...

Wong sifu has already posted some interesting info about Grandmaster Lam Saiwing at his webpage:

http://www.shaolin.org/answers/sp-is...saiweng01.html

for those interested, you can find Lam Saiwing's version of "taming the tiger set", "tiger and crane set" and "iron wire set" at

http://www.lghk.org/en/gallery/lsw_gjffk.htm

http://www.lghk.org/en/gallery/lsw_fhsy/lsw_fhsy.htm

http://www.lghk.org/en/gallery/lsw_tsk.htm

they are know as Hung kyun saam bou, "Three treasures of Hung kyun". as i said before, having a chance to learn 2 of 3 "treasures" is a very rare chance not to be missed. i wish i could also come to see Wong sifu's version and interpretation.

all the best to the Wahnam family!
