A place to discuss details about and surrounding Courses and Classes offered by the Shaolin Wahnam Institute

    Hello everyone,

During UK Summer Camp I asked Sifu for his blessing to run a "Virtual" Sukhavati Study Group (SSG) on the forum. I happy to say he felt it was a good idea.

My aim is to start the Virtual SSG on Sunday 7th September. All are welcome to join in. Here's the way I suggest it proceeds:
    • There are no authorities on this subject. Everyone's opinions and views are valid. There will be no flaming, no fighting, no falling out. I will moderate the thread if necessary.
    • Every Monday members of the SSG will start to read an agreed chapter from Sifu's Sukhavati book. Between then and Sunday discussions, comments, thoughts etc will be shared on the thread.
    • Each Sunday at 08:00 GMT there will be a 15 minute (to start with, this might increase) Buddha recitation session. Every body is welcome to "tune in".
    • There is no official membership of the Virtual SSG, everyone is welcome to share helpful, useful, insightful posts, whether they have been reading the chapters or not. Obviously if you want to get the most from the SSG, then I strongly recommend that you read along with us and share your thoughts, questions etc.
The list above is not carved in stone. If you have better suggestions on how the Virtual Sukhavati Study Group can be run for the benefit of everyone, feel free to share.

My objective is for this to be a fun, enjoyable and insightful discussion on all things Sukhavati (whilst focusing mainly on Sifu's book) combined with regular Buddha Recitation sessions. In my humble opinion. Sukhavati is the greatest book I have ever read, and I've read it more times than any other book I have (I have a lot of books). But I'm still a long, long way from fully realising the material within its covers. I'd love to take a journey through this book together with you and deepen my understanding and my practice.

Because I want this to be a lively thread, I am running a poll. The question is simple. Do you want to take part? If I get 30 "yes" responses by Sunday September 7th 2008 - I will give this project my fullest attention. If not I well devote my valuable time to other projects.

What more can I say? If you've never read Sukhavati - you're in for a treat. If you've read it and its contents moved you, this is your chance to take action on what you've read and deepen your understanding. Remember: understanding + action (taken on that understanding) = experiences. Those experiences are yours and belong to you. They lead to the eradication of doubt (and doubt is the major obstacle to our enlightenment) the eradication of doubt leads to increased understanding and so the cycle continues.

I remember the first group recitation I took part in, it was and incredible experience and really shifted my understanding up a gear. My dream is to share these kind of experiences with you. There are 19 chapters in this wonderful book - 19 weeks of shared exploration, understandings and experiences to be had. 19 weeks to get rid of some of that doubt and move closer to Enlightenment.

I consider this a daring adventure. Question is, "Will you join me?"

    Kindest regards
    Marcus

      Isabel.
