Last weekend I shared a special weekend with my parents, where for the first time all three of the cherry trees in their garden were in full blossom. In Finland this is far from typical, because although during many springs the trees yield magnificent blossoms, the harsh winters often kill many of the buds. Therefore full blossoming of cherry trees in Finland is an event to celebrate!
I'd like to share some photos with you of this special occasion. First up, here is an overview of the garden:
Beautiful!
Is this the same with the one in Japan called "sakura"?
In Japan, sakura blossoms only one week per year, in April.

Wow, what a place to practice! In Japan they have special cherry blossom viewing parties, but I can imagine that it is even more special in Finland! Your parents have a lovely garden...
I'm afraid these pictures do little justice to the garden – tending it is a passion for my parents, and it's definitely one of my favourite places anywhere to practice chi kung and kungfu.
Here's one more picture for a different view of the garden (next to the little waterfall in the background is where I usually practice when I'm visiting ):

- As far as I know, yes. There are actually two different species of cherry trees in there, both from the same branch (or category). The one in the foreground on the last picture is the biggest and usually yields the richest blossoms.
Both my parents are also dedicated chi kung practitioners, and are open and kind people. If some of you happen to visit Finland, let me know – I'm sure my parents are very happy to arrange a visit to the garden.
