I was discussing cancer with my girlfriend, specifically how the body seems to have certain areas that more often get cancer - stomach, lungs, bladder, skin, reproductive organs, brain, breasts. And that other organs don't seem to get cancer, but rather just stop working and shut down - kidneys, liver, heart.
It seemed to me that the hollow organs often get cancer, while the dense organs shut down. That made me think of the yin/yang organ pairs that I learned about during massage therapy school. And it sure seems like the yang organs get cancer, and the yin organs shut down.
That made me think that if there is too much yang, too much going on, too much growing, then tumors are the result. And with too much yin, too much lowering of activity, too much slowing down, then organ shut down is the result.
I was curious if this is discussed in Chinese Medicine. Heck, maybe I'm way off base on this whole idea!
