    COURSES

    Generating Energy Flow
Generating an internal energy flow inside your body, which sometimes manifests outwardly as chi flow movement, is the most fundamental skill in chi kung. You will learn this skill within the 6 hours of the course. You will also learn wonderful skills to relax, to focus your mind, and to open your heart.

    Shaolin 18 Lohan Hands
This set of chi kung exercises were first taught by the great Bodhidharma, the First Patriarch of the Shaolin Arts, to the Shaolin monks to strengthen them physically and spiritually so that they could better attain Enlightenment. We in Shaolin Wahnam are very fortunate to have inherited this treasure, and our Grandmaster is going to share it with the public irrespective of race, culture and religion. This set of exercises has helped many people recover from a great variety of illness as well as promote vitality and longevity.

Shaolin Eighteen Exercises for Health and Vitality
This is an amazing set of chi kung exercises that can cater for different people at various developmental levels with different needs, such as physical recreation, energy flow, mind expansion, overcoming health problems as well as combat application. In other words, a beginner and an advanced practitioner may practice the same set of exercises, yet derive different benefits according to their different needs and levels. It is only the second time that these exercises have been taught in the United Kingdom. You can read more and find video clips of these exercises from last years Summer Camp by clicking HERE.

Introduction to Kung Fu Internal Force and Combat Application
Many kung fu as well as other martial art practitioners are either amazed at internal force or sceptical about it. They also wonder how, if ever, kung fu forms can be used for combat. Here is a golden opportunity to find out. Grandmaster Wong Kiew Kit, the author of many kung fu books and well known for his teaching of internal force and combat application, has agreed to share these secrets in this 4-day course! If you do not experience internal force or know application of kung fu patterns for combat, you can ask for your money back! This course is meant for those who have some experience of kung fu or other martial art. It is a supplement (not a replacement) of what they are currently practicing. Fresh beginners may apply but they will have to work extra hard. You can view many Shaolin Kung Fu video clips by clicking HERE.

    Lion Dance
A Very Rare Chance to Learn EVERYTHING Needed for Lion Dance. Please see below for full details or click HERE.

    3 Classical Kungfu Weapons
Please see below for a full description. A vote is currently being taken as to which 3 weapons will be taught. You can have your say by clicking here. You can view videos of Classical Kung Fu weapons HERE. Restrictions Apply, please see description below for details.

    COST
Please refer to the next post on this thread.

    VENUE
Once again we will be using the fantastic facilities of the Sports Centre at the University of Kent overlooking the historical city of Canterbury. The University campus is situated in 300 acres of parkland and if the weather is nice there is plenty of room to practice outdoors.

    ACCOMMODATION
The University also has over 1600 rooms on campus and with the Summer Camp being held whilst the students are all on holiday, booking a room should not be a problem. Just imagine being within walking distance of the venue, plenty of room to practice on your own or with (new) friends in between classes. All within an easy bus ride to the beautiful city of Canterbury. What more could you ask for? The University has a range of rooms available, all reasonably priced. Call 01227 828000 to book.

    LOCATION
The University is only 56 miles from London and is on main bus, road and rail links making getting there and back effortless. The main website for the University, should you want directions, details, maps etc is: http://www.kent.ac.uk/.

    LAST WORD

    Examples
    • You wish to attend the Generating Energy Flow course (£300). There is no multiple course discount to apply but you pay in full before 7th June (which gives you a £50 early payment discount) you end up paying £250. A saving of £50.

    • You want to attend the Generating Energy Flow course (£300) and the 18 Lohan Hands course (£400) = £700. You receive a multiple course discount of 10% = £700 - £70 = £630. Instead of £1 400 they pay only £1 190 for 11 days of tuition with Grandmaster Wong Kiew Kit. If they had paid in full before 7th June, they would have received an early payment discount of £150 (£50 per course) and they would have paid only £1 040. A saving of nearly £400!

    • A Shaolin Wahnam student decides to take all 6 courses: total = £ 2 600. They take off the multiple course discount of 30% bringing the cost down to £1 820. They commit to paying in full before 7th July and qualify for an early payment discount of £300 (£50 per course). This brings the cost down to only £1 520. They get 18 days of World-class instruction and save over £1000 in the process!

So, to work out how much to pay for the course/s you wish to do:

    1) Add up the course price/s
    2) If attending more than 1 course take off the multiple course discount.
    3) Take off £50 per course if you pay in full before 7th June 2007
    4) Congratulations you have worked out the total to pay.

I will confirm your payment amount with you when you make a booking and if you wish to query your working out before hand please feel free to contact me and I'll be happy to help.

      Updates

      Hello everyone,

Just to let you know that a poll is currently running as to which 3 weapons Sifu will be teaching at this years Summer Camp UK. You can find the poll here. If you're interested in attending the Weapons course, make sure you have your vote.

Also, please note that Shaolin Wahnam students who wish to take the Weapons course or the Lion Dance course should be at least Level 2 in order to attend. The reason being that you must have good stances and footwork in order to be able to learn the material taught in these courses. Non-Wahnam students should only attend if they have a good grasp of Martial Arts forms, footwork and stances again in order to be able to benefit from the material taught on these courses.

      If in doubt ask me.

Write ups of the Weapons Course and Lion Dance course will be available soon.

      Kind regards

        Learn authentic Shaolin Kung Fu

        Hello everyone,

I'm sure you've already discovered this page on Sifu's webpage. If you haven’t you must make time to visit it ASAP.

Just a few of the gems you will discover include:
        • Learn why Stances are vital for Internal Force and Combat Efficiency
        • Learn the secrets of Footwork and why you don't have to bounce around like a boxer to be Combat Efficient
        • Learn how you can benefit from the experience of generations of Kung Fu Masters from the Shaolin Monastery. Regardless of what style you currently practice.

If you like the sound of this, then make sure you look at this page.

Whilst the videos show clips taken from October 2006's Intensive Shaolin Kung Fu course, you can be certain that when you attend the regional Shaolin Kung Fu course taught by Sifu at UK Summer Camp 2007, you will learn the secrets of Internal Force and Combat Efficiency and many more. If Internal Force and Combat Efficiency are important to you, whatever style of Martial Art you practice, the benefits you stand to gain mean you really don't want to miss this chance to practice and learn with Shaolin Grandmaster Wong Kiew Kit.

Places are already starting to fill up for the Introduction to Kung Fu Internal Force and Combat Application course. Numbers will be limited and I would hate for any seriously committed Martial Artist to miss out on this chance. A £100 deposit will secure your place on this course. You then have until 7th June to pay off the balance, if you want to take advantage of the early payment discount. I am more than happy for you to pay in instalments that are convenient for you. Please contact me if you wish to discuss options.

Guarantee: Grandmaster Wong is so confident that you will be satisfied with the course, he offers a 100% money back guarantee. If at the completion of the course you do not feel satisfied please let Grandmaster Wong know immediately and we will refund your money.

I look forward to meeting you in July.

        Kind regards

          3 Classical Kung Fu Weapons

It is not often that one has the opportunity to learn classical kungfu weapons. Normally they are taught only to advanced students who have shown their worth.

To prevent kungfu weapons being lost in future, Grandmaster Wong is offering a weapon course at the 2007 UK Summer Camp where participants can learn three of the five most spectacular weapons. Normally it takes a few months to learn just one weapon, but because of Grandmaster Wong’s incredible teaching skills, you can learn three weapons in a four days!

Nevertheless, you need the following three conditions.

          1. You must have some previous martial art experience.
          2. You should familiarize yourself with the routines of the weapon sets before attending the course. Please click here to see the various weapon sets.
          3. Be prepared to work very hard!

Below is a brief description of the five weapons to choose from.
          1. Shaolin Travelling Dragon Sword. Traditionally, the sword was the most preferred weapon of scholar-warriors. Its combat application against long, heavy weapons manifests elegance and profundity.
          2. Travelling Dragon Thirteen-Technique Spear. The spear is regarded as the “king” of weapons because its “shoot” technique is technically the most difficult to counter. And there are thirteen techniques.
          3. Green Dragon Crescent Moon Knife. This is the famous Kwan-Tou set that many kungfu practitioners want to learn but have no opportunity to. It was a kungfu tradition that one knew this set was not only a great warrior but also righteous and courageous.
          4. Travelling Dragon Crescent Moon Spear. It is a sophisticated weapon and is rarely taught. It incorporates the features of seven weapons, namely the spear, the big knife, the trident, the hook, the sword, the dagger and the staff!
          5. Taming Tiger Big Trident. It symbolizes appearance and reality. It appears to be a heavy, clumsy weapon, but in skillful hands it is agile and versatile.
          6. There has been some request to learn the Butterfly Knives. If many people want to learn it, we shall forward the request to Grandmaster Wong. Grandmaster Wong has two Butterfly Knives sets, one from Uncle Righteousness of Southern Shaolin or Hoong Ka, and another from Sifu Choe Hoong Choy of Wing Choon. The main different feature is that in the Hoong Ka set both knives strike together, whereas in the Wing Choon set one strikes after another. For example, in the Hoong Ka set you may slash an opponent’s arm and neck with both knives at the same time, whereas in the Wing Choon set you may slash his arm, or neck, with one knife, and immediately slash again at the same spot with the other knife. Grandmaster Wong will integrate the two set into one.

The Ho Family Flowing Water Staff set and Shaolin Plum Flower Single Knife set are part of the syllabus for regular classes. So it makes sense to learn 3 of the other classical weapons. Though the decision will be decided by vote. We are now conducting a poll to find out what three weapons you would like to learn. Click Here to have your say.

Understandably it is not an easy to choose three out of these remarkable weapons. Just to learn one is a treat. Imagine you now have the chance to learn three!

          Kind Regards

            Lion Dance

A Very Rare Opportunity to Learn Everything Needed for Lion Dance

Lion Dance is part of kungfu tradition, especially Southern Shaolin Kungfu. The great Shaolin master, Wong Fei Hoong, for example, was well known for his Lion Dance. But due to various reasons, Lion Dance, especially good Lion Dance, is becoming rare nowadays. To preserve this tradition irrespective of kungfu styles or schools, Grandmaster Wong will offer an intensive Lion Dance course at the UK Summer Camp 2007, open to both Shaolin Wahnam members and non-members.

The intensiveness of the course is unbelievable. Normally, members of a Lion Dance troupe are limited in their knowledge and ability. A drummer, for example, only knows how to play the drum, he does not know how to perform the Lion head, and vice versa. And normally it takes many months, if not years, to learn how to play the drum, perform the Lion head, or play an active part in any other aspect of Lion Dance.

But in the 5-day Lion Dance course you learn everything you need to know about performing a good Lion Dance! You learn how to perform the Lion head and the tail, as well as how to play the drum, the cymbals and the gong. Learning the complete repertoire of Lion Dance in just 5 days is unprecedented in Lion Dance history (or almost unprecedented as Grandmaster Wong taught a similar programme as an appendix to inner chamber disciples at an Advanced Shaolin Kungfu Course a few years ago.)

This is a rare opportunity for those who wish to learn all about Lion Dance within a very short time. It is also a rare opportunity for instructors of any styles or schools who wish to start Lion Dance in their own schools. We would like to warn that this rare opportunity may not be offered again. Due to his very tight schedule, there are more courses than time to teach them. For example, this year we could not offer Taijiquan during the Summer Camp although there are requests to do so. Darryl and I literally had to beg Grandmaster Wong to offer this Lion Dance course.

              Payment

              Hello again,

I've had a number of enquires about payment options. So to cover this I thought I'd make this post.
              • A £100 deposit secures your place on any course/s
              • If you are coming from abroad then it is okay to pay on the day if necessary.
              • Once you've paid your deposit you are then welcome to pay in as many installments as you wish.
              • Remember the cut of date for early payment discounts is 7th June. Any final payments outstanding by this date will result in the loss of early payment discount.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me

              Kind regards

                Wonderful News!

It gives me immense pleasure to announce the following breaking news:

Due to popular demand, Sifu has given his blessing for Sifu Robin Gamble to teach Wahnam Taijiquan at this years Summer Camp! Yes we are now able to offer world class tuition in Taijiquan at Summer Camp 2007

                Here are the details:

Building a Foundation in Wahnam Taijiquan
(The deeper the foundation the higher you can build!)

At present Taijiquan is mostly practiced as demonstrative form, but, did you know this is only one of four aspects of Taijiquan?
For a practitioner to realise the radiant health, combat efficiency and spiritual joy commonly associated with the great Taijiquan masters of the past, there are three other aspects that are vitally important, namely, force, philosophy and application.

Over 18 hours of tuition this course will offer a foundation in these aspects, covering ‘entering into Wuji’ (the void) stance training (Zhan Zhuang) basic footwork, moving in stances, body movement, push hands and striking hands. This course will be very beneficial to those Taijiquan practitioners who are missing these aspects in their current training.

                Dates and Times:
                Friday 13th July - 09:00 - 12:00 and 14:00 - 17:00
                Saturday 14th - 09:00 - 12:00 and 14:00 - 17:00
                Sunday 15th - 09:00 - 12:00 and 14:00 - 17:00

                Location:
The course will take place in the Dance Studio located within the Sports Centre at Canterbury University.

                Cost:
£275 - PLEASE NOTE: As this course is taught by Sifu Robin Gamble and not Grandmaster Wong it does not qualify for the multi course or early payment discounts. These discounts apply to Grandmaster Wong's courses only. Please bear this in mind when working out your costings. Any queries let me know.

                Next Steps:
If you wish to reserve a place on this course please contact me. If you have any specific questions about the course please contact Sifu Robin Gamble via a PM.

Now I just have to work out how to be in 2 places at the same time, because I would love to take this course!

                Kind regards

It has come to my attention that a number of people have sent me correspondence via the facilities here on the forum, that I have not received. It is probably as a result of the recent hacking activity.

So, if you have sent me a PM or e-mail via the forum in the last 10 days or so and I haven't replied, please re-contact me directly using marcus.santer@shaolinwahnam.co.uk. I always reply within 48 hours of an e-mail being sent, so if you do not get a reply please try again or call me. I try to check my spam bin as often as possible, but as I receive around 30+ spam e-mails a day, I occasionally miss the real ones.

Also, you now have less than a month left if you wish to benefit from the Early Payment Discount option! I'd hate for anyone to have to pay more than necessary for their course/s. Any problems/worries etc. contact me and we'll see if we can work something out.

                              Kind regards
                              Marcus
