    Guangdong compared to Fujian

    Ray,

Hi, what's up? Guangdong is coming along fine and everything is going well. There are often many good lessons to be learned from daily activities and experiences in inter-cultural phenomenon, but I'm getting help from Pan Gu when I need it, so everything's cool, and apparently moving along according to schedule.

The cities I visited in Fujian are much easier-going, and generally much nicer than Guangzhou, but part of that impression may be due to the Spring Festival time of the year when it seems things slow down in China considerably for 3-4 weeks to celebrate the new year. Right now the temeperatures in Guangzhou are at record highs and the weather was gorgeous most of the time I was in Fujian, especially while in the beautiful and highly recommended coastal city of Xiamen. When you do get a chance to visit Fujian, you'll get a taste of the local dialect, so add Hokkien to your list of things to learn I hope you get to visit there soon!

    Best wishes,
    Michael

      Hi, Michael.

I just learned from this thread that we stareted learning from Sifu Wong at about the same time. I attended the Chikung Course in April 2005, and you came several days later to Sungai Petani for the Shaolin Kung Fu Course.

At least you can still practice the Cosmos Chikung by yourself, and certainly Sifu taught you the Shaolin Zhan-Zhuang during the course. What about the One-Finger Shooting Zen?

      Best wishes,
      Joko

        Hello, Joko,

Too bad we missed each other in April 2005. I must have been in Georgetown trying the variety of food there when you were finishing your Chi Kung course.

Not everyone can learn the same way or at the same pace. I absorbed more of Sifu Wong's spiritual and moral teachings than the form sets, Zhan-Zhuang, One Finger Shooting Zen, etc. For me, the physical stuff is very difficult to learn and the chi stuff is easier. I discovered that I simply must have constant face-to-face supervision to learn martial arts, so I need a local teacher.

I was keenly interested in Southern Shaolin Kungfu, but eventually I opted for Tai-Chi Chuan and have continued with my Pan Gu Shengong (qigong) practice and teaching.

        Wishing you the very best,
        Michael

I would like to express my thanks to the Shaolin Wahnam Institute for everything. Regarding recent events: there are some lessons in life that can not be spoken, but must be experienced.

To all my friends, I hope to see you again.

          With love for you all,

                  Dear Michael,

I hope you won't find it patronizing (please smile -- it's a joke ) for me to wish you the best of luck, wherever life's path might take you. If you ever feel like coming back, we'll still be here, and you'll still be welcome.
