  • What course would you like to see?

What course would you like to see next year at the Summer Camp?

    Now there's a question.

Sigung knows around 100 sets, possibly more and that means all the time Sigung is teaching we have opportunity to learn some wonderful arts. But like our training we must choose wisely. This does not mean Sigung will agree to teach it, but it is still fun to suggest.

Last night Robin suggested the Eight Drunken Immortals, now that's a course you will want to book onto now!

Have a think and post what you would like to see at next years Summer Camp?

    Dragon Strength

    Hey Tim!

For me, definitely the "Dragon Strength set". However, as I understand that would be a more advanced set taught at Malaysia.

        Dear Sifu Tim,

        There are so many!

Perhaps those special ones like Dragon Strength and Essence of Shaolin would be reserved for a Special course in Malaysia(or whatever Sifu chooses), as Markus Siheng has mentioned.

I like the idea of Drunken Eight Immortals. So, perhaps one of these:

        1) Drunken Eight Immortals

        2) Seven Stars

        3) Essence of Fighting

        4) Choy Li Fatt

        5) Combat Palms
        Facebook

"Then how could chi kung overcome diseases where the cause is unknown or when there is no cure? The question is actually incorrect. The expressions "the cause is unknown" and "there is no cure" are applicable only in the Western medical paradigm. The expressions no longer hold true in the chi kung paradigm. In the chi kung paradigm the cause is known, and there is a cure."

          Dragon Strength!

Its brilliant to get a chance to contribute a vote / opinion on this.

Or, I remember on one course someone asked Sifu if there was such a thing as a pure Tiger set, I think he said there was, I think this would be popular too.

          But yeah Dragon Strength.

              Dear Brother!

Thank you for opening this thread!

May I respectfully ask everyone to share their reasons for their choices?

Can I also ask, for our choice is it purely a choice of set, ie is it definitely going to be a course based on a set, or could it be based on a style or other aspect of our training for example defence against weapons etc?

This conversation is partly for fun but also to see what interest people have and their aspirations.

For me both the Choy Li Fatt and the Eight Drunken Immortals would be great because a) they are real treasures of Shaolin Kung Fu b) they would compliment my Wing Choon training

I think Dragon Strength would definitely be reserved for a special course in Malaysia.

Wuzu (Five Ancestors) would also be up there on the list for me. Why? Because when I first started Kung Fu I was still very external from all my other martial arts and physical training. Tiger is still relatively hard and I am very Tiger. The Wing Choon has taught me the softer side, which is interesting as a lot of Wing Chun is considered hard. Wuzu would be an excellent style to teach me extra softness. Ying Yang!

My reasons for choosing the Dragon Strength Chi Circulating Set are, based on my limited understanding:

it is good for developing shen

it develops the ability to use fast flowing chi to achieve powerful results with an apparent softness

These are both things that are useful in the work I do.

I practice Tai Chi Chuan so, as I understand it, it is the Shaolin force development set that is closest to the art I practice.

Also, ever since training with Sifu in Costa Rica the Dragon symbol has had a lot of resonance for me. During some sessions of chi flow and standing meditation it was like I approached a Dragon at the centre of me. Very powerful experiences.

                        Dear Brothers,

Thank you for your complete answers!

I have to agree with your reasons, dear Barry. If I have an option, I would choose something related to what you describe.

Of course, another "Special Healing Course" would be incredible!

                        Your brother,

I agree, Sifu told us as it is a very very special Set, that this is a course for Malaysia!!!
