Information on the art
This is the training method for marvelous fist. In center of a well or a wall (it is not recommended due to chi reflecting off the wall which could interfere with your training) stand in stance of rider comfortably and let chi flow throughout your arm's and shoulder's while chi is building up in your dan tien then deliver as many blow's as you can to the center of the well until your chi exhaust's, they say to do 100 blow's but that's overworking yourself and can be harmful. And after 2 years stand 3 feet away and continue training.
After exercise use lifting the sky to cure chi blockage's and breathe out forcefully using soft force.
You can test this art by after years of training by placing a candle behind a piece of glass and extinguishing the flame with your punch. You can also test when training this art using a well because after year''s of training the water will begin to stir and eventually make wave like splashes which proves the mastery of this art.
I believe this art has other benefit's than just destruction and that it can be used for other benefit's like health and protection in a bad situation.

I found out about the art of marvelous fist in (Authentic Shaolin Heritage: Training Methods of 72 Arts of Shaolin) by jin jing zhong. In the book it's called yin fist and it doesn't say anything about it being called marvelous fist.

Dear Shao,
What is your interest in Marvelous Fist? Do you want to learn the art? or are you just interested in kung fu?
If you fancy the martial arts, along with the techniques, history, applications, stories, etc, and are interested just for entertainment, then I think you are doing fine. If, however, you hope to some day attain the art of Marvelous Fist, please read on carefully.
So far, your main source is a book that is known to be difficult, confusing, and lacking authentic substance. It is a fun book to read, but as a training manual it could be very dangerous. Secondly, you have already altered the information in the book, with regards to the training method. You assumed the art being trained is Marvelous Fist, though admit the book calls it Yin Fist. You also have decided that 100 blows is too many, and is overworking, yet the book mentions a minimum of 100. You mention chi flow, chi building, exhausting chi, lifting the sky, moving to 3 feet away after 2 years, testing the skill with a candle and glass, and breathing out forcefully with soft force, yet none of these are mentioned in the book.
I'm only pointing this out for your benefit, and the benefit of anyone trying to learn from a book. It is easy to make mistakes, and when you change the instructions on purpose, you can cause yourself a good deal of harm and/or waste a lot of time. I'm sure you could understand why this would seem like the behavior of a disrespectful, bad student if the "book" was replaced by a living teacher.
For your own benefit, I would suggest not practicing anything from this book. But if you do, follow the directions - do only what is mentioned, do all of what is mentioned, do nothing extra, do nothing less. A much better plan, would be to find a qualified teacher, and be the best student you can be. Again, that means following directions without adding or subtracting training methods.
All the best,
-Matt

My interest in the art of marvelous fist is to find the origin's of it and if there are master's of that art still around. And I only posted the book to show some info on the art not to get people to train from it. The art yin fist is marvelous fist that is why it's also known as one of the three ultimate art's. The reason I altered the information was because I researched marvelous fist and many other art's for a long time and wanted to provide a safer more accurate training method for marvelous fist the book show's little information on the art. The technique mentioned in the book lead's to problem's from training so i'm only making it easier for people to understand the training method because I believe this art has other benefit's than just destruction and would hate for the art to be lost in the future since master's in the past worked so hard to create this art and many other's. This is why I posted the thread not to be insulted by people who think my techniques are useless and insulting to other's who would like to learn and train this art.Last edited by shao; 25 May 2010, 11:06 PM.

Dear Shao,
Please understand, I am not insulting you. You have stated that you have researched Marvelous Fist, as well as other arts for a long time. However, it is clear from your writing that you have not practiced the method to attain Marvelous Fist. While your goal (to keep Marvelous Fist alive) is noble, your actions are not leading you to your goal.
Unless you have directly learned the method from a master with the skill, it is unwise to spread that method as genuine. If you have not practiced the method, and attained the skill yourself, how can you be sure the method is genuine?
If the method you are spreading is not the genuine method (learned from a master, and practiced to attain the skill), you are contributing to the losing of the art. If you truly have a desire to keep Marvelous Fist alive, it would be best to find a master willing to teach you this art, practice the genuine method to attain the skill, and then pass on the method and skill to deserving students.
Please, Shao, do not see this as an attack on you or your goals. In fact, I hope you are 1000 times more successful than you could ever imagine.

It is hard to find a master of internal art's like that so it will take time. By the way i actually practice marvelous fist and have gotten some results I feel healthier and stronger than iv'e ever been, I'm just adding information to protect people from common problem's like chi blockage's also 100 punches require's too much chi which can be harmful you should just put in minimum effort for maximum achievement. I hope the best for you to drop360

Hi Shao,
What's your name? Mine is Anthony. But if you want advice from me, it would be better to refer to me as "Sifu Anthony", or "Sifu Korahais", or at the very least, "Mr. Korahais." Without understanding this kind of basic etiquette, you're not likely to get very far in the world of martial arts.
Also, you do realize that the Shaolin Temple is a tourist spot, right? You can't find genuine kung fu at the Shaolin Temple any more.
By the way, I think that your response to drop360 (aka Matt) was rude.
All the best,

I think I have the original version of the book (ie, in Chinese) though I have not read it for a while. I find the translated version quite hilarious. I recall when reading the book that many important details and preparatory steps were glossed over and not mentioned.Originally posted by shao View PostI found out about the art of marvelous fist in (Authentic Shaolin Heritage: Training Methods of 72 Arts of Shaolin) by jin jing zhong. And I believe the book stated more than once than this is not a self-teaching manual. In fact, while it may not be clear in the translated version you linked to, the original book's preface made it clear that this was a compilation and meant as a reference, rather than a textbook. And if my memory serves me correctly, there were also many references to listening to one's master / teacher. So, implicit in the message is that you need to learn from a living master who can guide you at every progressive step.
I wholly agree with Chief Instructor Anthony Korahais Sifu's comments. And while i may not know who you are, I can safely assume Matt is a much more accomplished martial artist that you are, so you would be wise to pay heed to his advice.百德以孝为先
